Horses are masters of mirroring. They are very sensitive animals who notice everything you consciously and even unconsciously do and feel. For example, they immediately pierce incongruity (when you behave differently than how you feel). But they also sense the overt and hidden interactions between people. Moreover, they are herd animals that have evolved to recognize authentic leadership.
Therefore, they are interesting for individual sessions as well as for coaching teams. Because horses have no such thing as a double agenda, they have no biases or notion of social protocol. A horse cannot be incongruent either, what they notice, they immediately communicate in their own way.
This is where I come in. I translate what the horses are trying to tell you and help you extrapolate these insights into your daily life. This genuine and direct feedback is a goldmine of information for the client.
Horses are then the ideal coaches because they teach us to look again clearly at our environment and ourselves. They offer us the chance to experiment, to see what works and what doesn't work for you, and at each step they will provide you with appropriate feedback again. Because again, horses' coaching skills surpass those of humans: as soon as the client recovers, horses will adjust their behavior. Horses assess your actions in the here and now, giving you the opportunity to learn quickly and at lightning speed.
As humans, we do have a sense of these things too, but through our upbringing and experiences, we have learned to cover them up, layer by layer, over the years, clouding our perspective. We have become masters at distorting reality, to the point where we are no longer able to see things as they truly are.
